Abstract:
In P1 CERN plans to replace the high luminosity triplets with long, low gradient NbTi quads having some combination of 90, 110 & 130mm apertures. The possibilities are briefly explored here of building shorter, stronger Nb3Sn magnets that could replace either the Q1 or Q3. A limited number of options involving 90 & 110mm apertures, and either single long magnets or two short modules are discussed.
